What is Ayurveda

Ayurveda is one of the world’s oldest holistic healing systems which translates to "science of life” in Sanskrit. Ayurveda believes in maintaining the health of body and mind through learning about our unique constitution, which is determined from the moment of conception. This is our blueprint and it consists of five elements: Ether, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth.

Many factors (age, socioeconomic constraints, hormones, trauma, lifestyle, etc.) may influence an imbalance in our constitutions, or doshas: Vata (ether & air), Pitta (fire & water), and Kapha (earth & water), which we must balance. This is accomplished through food, medicine (herbs), spices, yoga asanas, breath work, color therapy, aromatherapy, mantra, sound, and by creating a daily ritual.

Benefits of Ayurveda

Ayurvedic practitioners believe that the key to good health is balance, and they aim to restore that balance by using a variety of techniques including diet, lifestyle changes, and herbal remedies. Ayurveda has been shown to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions, including anxiety, arthritis, asthma, infertility, and migraines. In addition to its proven therapeutic benefits, Ayurveda is also preventative medicine. Ayurvedic practitioners believe that by maintaining balance in the body, we can avoid illness and promote overall wellness. For these reasons, Ayurveda is gaining popularity as a holistic approach to health care.

Our Story

Mata Ayurveda was founded by Shivangi, a second-generation Ayurvedic practitioner and health enthusiast. Being born into a Hindu family with a long lineage of Ayurvedic practitioners, she journeyed into self-healing and Ayurveda after experiencing deeply traumatic events in her life. This eventually led to her founding her own company to preserve her cultural roots and share the benefits of Ayurveda with the world. She further immersed herself in Ayurveda under the guidance of Dr. Naina Marballi, a Vaidya with 40 years of experience in practicing this ancient medicine.

Driven by a desire to help others find balance and achieve health, she developed effective and accessible Ayurvedic products. The products are rooted in traditional methods that have been passed down through her family, based on Shivangi’s personal experience. Our mission is to make Ayurveda healing power accessible to everyone.
